Chapter II
Siarhei

The morning in Baranavichy often started with the official Belarusian anthem, modified after the BSSR, reintroduced by Lukashenka in 1996.

The 2020 protests in Belarus had the unique feature that they were joined by people who previously did not openly show their views. At the same time, people detained during the protests and those who did not participate in the demonstrations but just got into somebody's black books met at prison cells.

In addition, it was then that the Belarusian authorities began detecting "extremists", i.e. those who, in their opinion, were at the forefront of the protests. Often the reason was subscribing to specific Telegram channels.

The guide through the following story is doctor Siarhei, who was arrested after a march in Minsk with his son.
